About Marcia Van Dyke

I've been in the newspaper business for about 20 years, mostly on the ad side of things. My first Publishers position was with the Journal of the San Juans where I met my husband Jeff. I've been publisher of the South Whidbey Record since September of 2008 and publisher of the Whidbey News-Times and Northwest Navigator since September of 1999. I am very passionate about community news and enjoy the fast-pace and ever-changing environment of the business. Things change everyday and it's our job to identify those changes and happenings in our community and get as much of it to the public as quickly and accurately as possible. I believe that a good newspaper facilitates community dialog for a positive outcome. For me, the South Whidbey Record is more than a news-source. The editorial pages and comment section foster community debate and the activities calendar lists all the fun, upcoming events in town. It's an awesome job.
