Falcons bound for district playoffs play-in game

February 6th, 2012 at Mon, 6th, 2012 at 11:53 am by benwatanabe

The South Whidbey girls basketball team pivoted as swift as junior guard Ellie Greene’s right foot from a one-win conference season last year to qualifying for the District 1 playoffs this week. South Whidbey lost to third-place Granite Falls on Friday night and rebounded the next day to beat Coupeville. The Falcons will wait until late tonight to learn who they’ll host in the play-in game Wednesday, Feb. 8.

The Falcons (6-7 conference; 7-11 overall) are the Cascade Conference’s fourth 2A seed, behind Archbishop Murphy, Cedarcrest and Granite Falls.  They will face one of five possible Northwest Conference teams – Sehome, Blaine, Anacortes, Mount Baker or Lynden.
