Falcon boys soccer to face Bellingham Red Raiders

South Whidbey will host Burlington-Edison at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a District 1 boys soccer playoff match.

Both South Whidbey and Burlington-Edison are in the consolation bracket and must win to extend their seasons. Whichever team wins its next two matches will advance to the 2A state tournament. …Read the rest of this post

State athletics board approves basketball finals location

Crabs sluggers snag doubleheader

The Whidbey Crabs continued their winning streak by defeating the Kirkland 3-2 and 10-2.

In the opener, the Crabs overcome a 2-0 deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Whidbey Pony League team scored three runs to take the lead and held off the visitors in the seventh inning for a comeback victory. Ricky Muzzy pitched the first three innings before Charlie Patterson relieved him to shut out Kirkland in the final four innings for the win. …Read the rest of this post

Sign-ups set for South Whidbey youth football

Sign-ups for South Whidbey’s young Falcon football players are scheduled for May 17.

The South Whidbey Football Association has three divisions: Pee Wee (6-8), Midget (8-10) and Junior (10-12). Registration will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17 at the South Whidbey Parks

Falcon baseball game rescheduled for doubleheader Friday

South Whidbey traveled a long way for nothing. When the Falcon baseball team arrived at Sultan High School on Wednesday, they changed into their uniforms, ran through drills, heard the game was canceled and loaded back onto the bus.

Errors cost Falcon softball in loss to Cougars

Trailing a few runs, the Falcons made untimely fielding errors, which wound up costing them against the Lakewood Cougars on Friday in a 9-3 loss.

The South Whidbey softball team trailed 5-2 by the fifth inning. A couple of walks, two runs on pitches in the dirt and a pair of errors gave Lakewood a 9-2 edge by the sixth.

If I can go sailing, I do. Fishing is a recently discovered hobby, but there are few things as exciting as getting a fish on the line and the battle between urgency and patience to haul it in. I don't much care for pets, but probably want to pet your dog or hold your cat.
