March 9th, 2010 at 9:48 am by briankellyA dedicated group of Scatchet Head volunteers helped pull apart the picnic shelter at Totem Park, board by board and cedar shake by shake, so the wood could be recycled for a future project. Here, a community helper bundles salvaged shakes. The picnic shelter near the totem pole at Scatchet Head was knocked over by a mudslide several years ago.

Republicans met at the county fairgrounds in Langley today to work on the platform and to pick delegates for the county caucus, which will be held at North Whidbey Middle School on April 10.
Feb. 12 | Noodle night for Hearts & Hammers
February 16th, 2010 at 4:28 pm by briankellyVolunteer Susan O’Brien puts a piece of garlic bread on the plate for Betty Freeman at Friday night’s Hearts & Hammers benefit dinner. A packed house of roughly 370 people enjoyed the fundraiser, and more than $6,000 was raised by the event. The dinner will help provide for this year’s work day on May 1, when hundreds of volunteers work on the homes of their South Whidbey neighbors.
